Hi All,
I'm a newby to this site and have never posted before. I came across this site when researching false knock. I know this is an old thread but want to put my two cents worth in anyways. Have a 2012 Boss 302 supercharged with a Paxton Novi 2200SL and was getting false knock at around 5200 rpm's at wot. Couldn't figure out where it was coming from and thought maybe it was in the tune, turned out it was something else. I happened to be removing the supercharger to replace the pulley and belt and noticed when I removed the MAF that the honey comb air flow straightener up stream from the MAF was loose and rattling around in it's housing. The straightener is made of a thin aluminum honeycomb and was just pressed in to the housing and had come loose. I used some JB Weld around the edges of one side of the honey comb to secure it to the housing and when all was reassembled, the false knock had disappeared :) :) :). I know it wasn't the tune because I reassembled with the same size supercharger pulley and didn't change the tune. It is now smoother than it has ever been through the entire rpm range. And on another note, it's a good idea to every so often check the air flow straightener if your car is equipped with one. The honeycomb is very flimsy and if it comes apart can easily be sucked into the intake. Mine was on the verge of doing so. Hope this helps someone.

If it is truly false knock, would you see the same KR in all tunes? In other words, if you saw 2 degrees w/ brand X tune, wouldn't you still see that same 2 degrees in the stock or brand Y tune? Only if it's truly false knock.

I may be totally off base here but trying to solve one of these issues on my own car ATM.

I would say yes. False knock is usually a mechanical issue. In my case something loose and rattling that the knock sensors were picking up. I also went over all of the other components attached to or near the engine, i.e. intercooler pipes, brackets, exhaust, and even the clutch, to make sure nothing else was vibrating or rattling against the engine block or intake. Used sticky velcro strips in between components that were situated near enough to each other to potentially rattle. My false knock is gone.

Well if this thread gets turned into a sticky. My false knock came from my passenger Longtubes hitting the bushing on the K member. Had my exhaust guy trim a small piece off of it and it went away. You could see the dent in the primary where it was flexing on the bushing at.

Same here, I am currently data logging for my TT build and I only have 91. I mixed 100 and the tuner said the fuel was good with a mix of the 91 and 100 but there is still false knock at about 7k rpms and at that shift. I am going to install a meth kit next week but not sure what else it can be. Any advice aside what is alreayd on this thread? Thanks
