Have you or anyone else tried Borlas with an offroad Xpipe?
Borla XR-1® 2.5 Cat Back Exhaust System [140210] - $999.00 : Evolution Performance, Performance Parts & Accessories - Ford Mustang & Shelby Experts
I have this exhaust - it rocks!
I would like to enhance it bit maybe, something less subtle while keeping the quality of the Borla...
I just watched the video you posted and there's no doubt as to how good the Borla S-type sounds from outside the vehicle. However, it's the interior resonance drone from inside the car that I cannot deal with. So my question is this. How bad is the drone from inside your car, and are you also running the stock catted mid-pipe or running an off-road exhaust setup?

2011 GT500 here. I ran for over 2 years nothing more than a 3" off road (no cat) Lethal Performance H pipe, stock 2.75" over that axle tubes and my factory 2011 GT500 mufflers. The factory GT500 over the axle pipes do NOT have resonators in them. I had no drone at any speed, engine speed or engine load. It was loud, but no obnoxiously loud. Excellent tone; I had my dad do multiple fly bys under cruise and hard accel. Sounded killer! Perfect, short of having full headers installed too. Almost like the GT500 2011-12 mufflers were designed with cat-less use in mind.
Check this video out. Engine start up at 17:25
Christian is an adviser at Power By The Hour in Florida. Thats his personal car with a 3v. It has hot rod cams in it but his exhaust set up sounds killer. Ill be honest, it probably doesnt have cats installed. Maybe give them a call and see what they might recommend. They definitely know their shit when it comes to Mustangs.
I have dynamatted my trunk and the rear seat section and can honestly say I have ZERO drone at all speeds. I do have an aftermarket JBA H-Pipe with high-flow CATS; the rest of the exhaust (w/ the S-Type's) is stock.
As I just mentioned to R@ceRedGT500's post above, Borla changed the design of their exhaust systems when the 2011-14 Coyote 5.0 4v came out which would explain the reason behind your Borla S-Type axle-back having zero drone. However, when it comes to the older 2005-10 4.6L 3v motors, the S-Type exhaust was from Borla's previous design and well known for producing horrible drone. I also know from personal experience that your absolutely 100% spot on about the drone issues as being worse when running an off-road mid-pipe vs the factory catted mid-pipe, as running an off-road mid-pipe will only increase the level of drone by amplifying the sound frequencies that produce resonance drone.Im running stock cats and Borla S axleback on my 2012 GT500 and there is ZERO drone ever. Im not sure how it would be with an off-road mid pipe as Ive not been around one but with the factory cats its goooooooooooooood. Ive always heard that with headers or offroad pipes the stock mufflers come alive and sound great with no drone!
