And end subsidized/guaranteed Federal Student loans, tax exemptions, etc.Lol your saying your education wasnt paid for by taxes. Ok. If that was the case lets stop funding all state and UC schools cause clearly they can fund themselves.

I would be in favor of this. The schools would have to choose between the students and the new $10 million art building.Lol your saying your education wasnt paid for by taxes. Ok. If that was the case lets stop funding all state and UC schools cause clearly they can fund themselves.
You realize giving "free tuition" is practically a sunk cost to the school, right? 35 vs 36 kids in a class makes no difference.Nah fam
These people are getting 1-200k dollar educations in some cases for free, along with dorm, food, health care, and expenses.
If you tell schools they must pay athletes, then remove scholarships/perks from the deal and let them pay their own way with that money.
You realize giving "free tuition" is practically a sunk cost to the school, right? 35 vs 36 kids in a class makes no difference.
Also, so the kid is getting "$35k a year in perks" but his individual revenue generation for the school maybe in excess of $1m a year.
Also, read the bill, which is not saying the schools have to pay these kids a salary. Rather, the kids have the right to profit from their workand talent. Why should a student athlete not be aloud to sell his jersey or autographs, get paid for a speaking engagemrnt, fund raiser or dinner? Why should they not be all alloud to sign advertising contractors or sponsorships?
They have every right to capitalize on their fame and success. Schools are apoosed because at their fundamental core they are communist institutions.
You know who also got free room and board? Farm slaves in the 19th century when they were picking cotton.

Actually, they have no right to any of that, because those are the rules the NCAA has set forth. Don't like them? Don't go to school.
They want to have their cake and eat it too. They want the free room, board, tuition, exposure to pro scouts, AND they want to profit from their name and likeness
If you want to be treated like a professional, then act like one. Pay your own way.
Go be a pro in BFE, and get paid.
Exactly, so change the BS NCAA rules. That is the point of a capalist society, you have a right to work. The rules being orchestrated by the NCAA, Pro Leagues and even Federal Government are regressive protectionist acts designed to benifit the schools and leagues at the detriment of the players.
And what is wrong with that?
Imagine your job/career, suddenly every company in the United States pass rules saying the max they will pay is $20/hr and free dental. You also can't have any other source of income or work a second job. Stop bitching, your getting free dental! It also doesn't mater how hard you work, how good you are or how productivd you are, you get paid the same as everyone else.
Sounds like Communist Bullshit.
Sounds like you just have an axe to grind against athletes. "uhh people get paid more then doctors to kick a ball around, uhhh"
That's easy to say until you realize it's a monopoly. What actual harm is there from letting people have the opportunity to profit from their success? You bet your ass those schools are profiting.

No, you don't have a right to "work", and that's not what they're doing anyhow. It's a VOLUNTEER ACTIVITY! They're free to QUIT if they don't like it. But then, all those benefits they claim aren't worth anything will go away, too.
Once again, completely mischaracterizing what's actually happening. Better yet, you're using a completely irrelevant analogy! Winning! But hey, keep white knighting for the athletes like they don't get anything.
And why should the schools not profit when they provide everything required for them to have their success in the first place? No school, no football team. And don't fool yourself thinking it's the players that drive the interest. In college, it's the teams.
No, tt's not a monopoly. We've been through this. Just because they don't like the options, doesn't mean they aren't available. Sounds like you're a self-entitled punk with an axe to grind against the schools who are providing them with an opportunity 99% of them would never have.

The school aren’t going to be paying the students. They’re letting the students accept sponsors money.

The only problem with this is schools can now game the system. A school like University Oregon can make donations to Nike and have Nike go to someone like Trevor Lawrence and say "Hey here is a sponsorship to use you in an ad of $200K if you go play for Oregon." Schools are now paying players to come to their schools through loop holes.
But Nike is already making a donation to the University of Oregon with free equipment and cash for athletic scholarships... Which I suspect they use as tax write offs.
So....
But now it would be used to directly pay players to come to colleges. Schools with the biggest sponsors would have the best players.
Everyone's education at public funded universities are paid for with taxes to a degree. My tuition and expenses were paid for 100% by private funding. I know the donor's name as well as the corporations that sponsored the program. We were forced to secure private donations as most of the men's sports programs were shut down due to Title IX changes.Lol your saying your education wasnt paid for by taxes. Ok. If that was the case lets stop funding all state and UC schools cause clearly they can fund themselves.
You've yet to put forth a logical argument to why a student athlete should not be aloud to sign ad sponsor deals or sell their collectables...
Because it's a billion dollar industry that people are getting rich off of. These same people are the ones making the rules stating the players can't share in that wealth.I don't have to. My argument is made by the very definition of what amateur sports is. Either follow them, and play as an amateur, or go pro, like I've been saying all along.
YOU have yet to put forth a logical argument why anyone should make an exception for them when there are perfectly valid options already available.
