Tae kwon do, tang so do, boxing, ninjistsu. Got my ass beat with a beer mug and gave up martial arts. That was the day my wife and I quit drinking together.

The wife and I studied Shotokan a few years back. Trained our way up to 3rd Kyu (1st level Brown). Then my wife tore my rotator cuff during a self defense take down. Shortly after that we found out she was pregnant with our 3rd child. She started back training a few months ago. My boys are also showing interest in it. It's pretty intense at 3rd Kyu and up. Being the sole provider for the family, I decided to hang up my belt. My only regret is not getting into it 20 years ago.

I salute all those able to do martial arts.
I took Kung Fu for a short time and found it to be too athletic for me. The fact that I never practiced outside class..i.e. do my homework, probably didn't help. Also because I am tall, the instructor targeted me for learning the crane,,,,nope..

I also took a few weekend courses in Jiu Jitsu and learned how long 45 seconds can be and what an arm-bar-heaven I would be to someone should/when the fight goes to ground..

3 things you never, ever ask on svtp.

1) how much can you bench

2) post a pic of your current gf.

3) who does martial arts or mma.

When someone does. Just sit back and enjoy.

i was never around MA growing up, just the typical baseball, basketball and some soccer sports. I have a 3.5 year old daughter who is in a dance/tumble class that she loves and i have a 2 year old son that i want to get into something as soon as possible. There are some classes for kids around me, but they all seem to start at age 4.
