I downloaded FORScan to try and find out why our 2016 Edge is acting up. So got a Juta ELM327 connector that apparently does not work as when I connect it to laptop ForScan says no ELM connected. So what connector will work since this one does not. This is version 2.3.28 running on windows 7 pro. Thanks.

I have been a regular poster over on Ford Truck Enthusiasts web site for 12 maybe 13 years. There are some very knowledgeable and helpful people over there. One is a guy who goes by Tugly. His name is Rich and he is particularly helpful when it comes to tech using Torque Pro and Forscan. The issue you may be having is the version of the ELM327 adapter you're using.

Here is a post on the subject from him.

ELM327 - The dirty little secret - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

If you search the thread he posted this particular post in, you probably will find the version of that adapter he and others are recommending these days.

Do you not need a subscription for Ford specific programming to use it? Typically when we have issues with our Snap On Pass Thru not being recognized on the laptop it is either a cord issue, like a bent connector pin or a subscription issue where it hasn't been registered or recognized by Ford to work yet. I just read up on what FORSCan was as I assumed it was a programming tool but I'm not entirely versed on it, but looking into it it appears to be a similar piece of equipment.

Yes you need to subscribe. Both times I’ve used it getting it to connect was the hardest part. It’s pretty cool though once you see all the stuff you can change on your car/truck though.

OBDLink Mx+ is what use for all my different programs...Alfaobd, Forscan, Torque. Works great with all of them as it supports all protocols to my knowledge.

As far as subscription, I believe you can do everything except for PATS and programming without the extended license.
