Beefed up the bottom end for more power.

Your build is interesting to me. Why not throw some hotter pistons and bore/sleeve while you were digging around?

It's a mustang dyno. Those are famous for being overly friendly. I had a setup years ago that made 649 on a mustang dyno corrected and took it to a Dynojet and it made 588 corrected. So car same mods same tune... different dyno... Shops make money by producing big numbers so many help the dyno out a bit to get that extra business.

I found that to be really strange also, and they replaced the two things that were probably the strongest parts of the motor that came from the factory.
I'm guessing that they probably opened up the ring gap and probably honed the cylinder walls, so that may eliminate some of said issues. This is all speculation, just like the dyno numbers produced. As long as she runs well and you are happy, f the numbers and enjoy. Just my lousy opinion though.

Had it been my build originally I would have done pistons as well for sure. He wanted to keep stock compression

GodStang-the experience you had with the dyno seems to be unique. Historically, Mustang dynos tend to read about 10% lower than a Dyno-Jet.
