How is everyone's E85 checking out there? I fear making the switch and constantly feeling like a chemist every time I refill. Is it worth it?

E70 is plenty pure. E70 will kick E10 93s ass seven days a week and twice on Sunday. Probably kick most race gas in the ass as well.

It's if it goes too far below E60 you start losing the detonation suppression....but people even use E54 with success. Don't let E70 scare you from a switch.

I saw that fb post. I tested my local station yesterday and got E80.

I run e70 im my cobra and I'm in the 800hp range. Cars runs smoother than it did on the 93 tune. As long as you test above 60 then you are good. I have one pump in my area that I get my fuel from the is 70 on the dot everything. As long as you can find a consistent station/pump then go for it.
Find the right tuner ( @04sleeper is who I use) and go for it

Improved fuel economy? E anything is going to give you reduced fuel mileage, roughly 30% less. And that's if you can keep your foot out of it. Personally I can't, every time I take it out I have talent one blast. And it will drink fuel when your on it.
The positives highly outweigh the cons though. Get at it and never look back, especially for the price

I believe technically speaking.....E85 will command ever slightly more fuel to hit the target AF versus E70....but that's absolutely splitting hairs and really wasn't even worth mentioning.

E85 to E10 much more significant mpg difference WOT.....but who cares. That gen4 beast you have at 25psi is going to move the needle to the EMPTY side rapidly whether it has E70 or E90 for that matter. It's impossible not to drive these corn fed terminators and not let her rip at least once every trip! Lol. For those that know, they have zero desire to go back to E10 as long as this high % ethanol sticks around.

No, he asked the difference of E70 and E85.

18% less ethenol will mean 18% more gasoline so improved fuel economy.

18% less ethenol also means a drop in cooling and nock resistance.

I'm running e70 right now. It's still the winter blend. I drained all the 91 out of my tank for it.

I'd run e70 24/7 if that's all I could get. Performance doesn't change much between e70 and e85.

The E85R I purchase on average measures between 90-95%. Solid stuff!

Does not matter too too much after E50 due to the octane not increasing that much from E50 to E85. From 0-50% you go from 86-104 octane and from 50 to 100 you go from 104 to 108. What will matter though is amount of fuel. The guys sweating E80 vs E85, it doesn't really matter to 99% of the guys out there.

That's an interesting chart....I've never seen that before

But people have to remember, ethanol's benefits are far past an octane rating. Someone will read this and say "well...that settles it....I knew 109 race gas was better than E85...it's only 108!"

The lower cylinder temps, even burn rate across the top of the piston will say otherwise once the tuning data commences. What's the true octane equivalency? A ton

Thanks for the chart. I've read and heard that the differences were minimal but having in chart form makes it easier.
And yes there are more benefits to ethanol than just octane rating. My pump e70 at $1.40 per gallon is what I'm sticking with.

I run E65 in my car and don't try to go above E70 to keep my fuel system happy as far as duty cycles. Car makes 906rwhp on E65 with no problem. Most of your spark will be in by E60 anyways. E85 will help cool the combustion chamber better with the higher ethanol content.

My old TVS set up made same HP on E85 and E70.
