Just got my car together and on the road after buying it at a salvage auction and repairing it and I'm wondering if my exhaust is working correctly. When you have the exhaust in the normal ( quieter) mode is it supposed to keep the baffle closed at all times ? Reason I ask is when its in the normal setting and I get on it kinda hard once it goes over around 4000 rpms the baffles open by themselves and dont close until I back off the throttle. Is that how they are supposed to work ?

Thanks, Tom

What year? The original 350's had only a binary actuator function. Basically you could manually open and close, you could change the drive mode (which would open and close it) and lastly, it had a tie to 6th gear (engagement of 6th gear would close them).

Roush has had a different, multi functioning version for years that has different valve positions based on RPM and throttle for different drive settings. Not sure if Ford has incorporated the more sophisticated version into the newer 350's.

You can actually go into the mapping/profiles on the Roush and change how far and when the actuators are open closed (basically you can customize and make it more open, less open, or anywhere in between under different conditions).

The stock GT350 ECU opens the exhaust (noise valves) automatically once you get above about 50% throttle, and then closes it again when you ease off the throttle.

So, yes, that's how it's supposed to work.
