Throttle body response

I am sure this has been hashed over but just a quick question my car has a Whipple mono blade throttle body in the 3.4 Whipple and my throttle response bottom end seems very delayed is that due to the top end power of this throttle body? Would I benefit from going to say a twin 68mm throttle body to gain throttle response I assume will lose a little too end power but this isn’t a race car more of a really fun weekend cruiser with 750whp lol. Thanks in advance

I would imagine there are some tweeks that have been gleaned in the tuning of these cars in the last 12 years. I would look into a reputable tuner and have them check the tune(s) out.

Back in 2012 when I was looking to upgrade to a mono-blade on my 2011, I contacted Whipple to ask about their mono's CFM.
I was told by their tech that they didn't recommend their mono for street use..

Ive heard the same that the mono blade is a bit twitchy vs lets say the VMP 67 TB which I have.
.
I was referring to the Whipple Mono-blade, I have had no issues with ( 2 ) FRPP mono-blades..

I had that Whipple Monoblade on my 3.4 Whipple back in 2008 on an early 750rwhp 2007 GT500. It always was a bit awkward/delayed at tip in regardless of tuning but otherwise performed well especially at full tilt. It was definitely bearable for weekend cruising. You will give up some power going to a dual throttle body but the VMP Twinjet 67mm will drive extremely nice.

Tuning these monster monos are problematic, but with time and patience, they can be made to run like stock. I bolted on a 168 KB mono a couple of years ago, and did it need a ton of tweaking. Idle was a bear to get below 1000 rpms, and it would also failsafe, to mention only two. I approached one issue at a time, then moved on to the next as I slowly got it working to my satisfaction. I have to say I learned a lot, having never tuned a mono prior to this one. Today, throttle response is crisp and my idle is down to 750 rpms (stock). But it did take a LOT of tweaking and the issue with this is that pro tuners won't take anywhere near that amount of time, probably two or three iterations at most.

Most likely because Ford publishes their data, or it's at least readily available. None of the other aftermarket TB's do, to the best of my knowledge. Us tuners are left to our "best guesses" or others in the same boat.

Both of my cars were tuned on the street, ( www.teamjdm.com ), which some will argue doesn't matter.
My tuner used to work for Ford as a tuner.
................It does matter who & how tuning is done !!

Me too.

Could not agree more. These monos are very touchy and two "identical" units will be far from identical. Each requires tweaking with no proven generalized solution = extra tuner time. At least that's my viewpoint.

So since it is a weekend cruise car I would prefer drive ability over a few HP so if mono are that hard to tune than it is safe to say a twin throttle body sounds like a better option I am sure I could sell my existing whipple Mono as miles are so low. Thanks is VMP twin or Ford racing one better

I would say go with a twin. Honestly, sometimes I think it boils down to the big boy syndrome, "... mine is bigger than yours..." I mean who really cares?

While I was tuning my 168 KB, which took me a better half of one year (I don't drive my car much), I would remove it when I knew I wasn't going to be tinkering with it, and slap on my L&M 66 with my homemade adapter plate. I used to run it and an L&M 72, neither required any tune changes.
