does anyone think that the value of our cars will go back up or will we just have to wait until they are classics? pretty random question but i was just wondering.

I'm curious as to how many of our cars are still around, surely the last ten years must have knocked quite a bit of them out of existance.

Does anyone actually think our cars will become "classics" ? I'm not so sure.

I've said it before but I think that our cars have or are very near to bottoming out in value. Many 96-98 Cobras have low mileage and make up the overwhelming majority of clean and well-maintained "sn95" body cars, they will become very desireable to those that have always liked this body style but never purchased one. I think we're already starting to see it happen with some of the pristine Mystic and BAB colored cars, I bet in the next few years, a very clean low mile 96-98 will go for the same price if not higher than it would now. Of course the higher mileage daily driver cars will probably continue to drop steadily in value (unless completely overhauled), although they will still command a healthy premium over other Mustangs of the same year.

As far as actually achieving "classic" status--when I think of that I think Shelby cars, Boss 302, etc.--I don't think our cars will ever have that kind of reputation, however I think the 03/04's might and the '07 GT500 almost certainly will.

Just my thoughts...

I look at what the late 70's-early 80's Vette's did. A clean one got down to around $10k in the late 80's and stayed there for about 10 years. Then in the late 90's to now, they have gone up a little. I bought my Cobra in April 2004 with 46k miles and the KBB said it was worth $12.9k. I looked it up over the weekend and it now has 49k miles and the KBB said $12.3k, so not much depreciation in a year's time.

From what I am seeing with the Fox body Mustangs is, if you find a clean one with not too many modifications for sale, then you will pay a premuim I can only imagine the same thing happening with our 94-98 mustangs/cobra's.

Any car that has a limited production and is desirable...will become a classic. When..time will tell.

The ultra low production cars will turn, (or have already begun to turn upward) like the 95R's @250, the 95 Convert. w/Removable Hardtop@499 and then the other higher limited number Cobras, Mystics@2000 (or so) and other limited number Cobras of their specific years.

When the people who grew up with these cars get to a point in life where they can either, buy for the first time or, buy again the Cobra that they grew up with, they will invest in clean original examples of these cars.

These cars, except the 95R-Models, 95 2-Tops, and maybe the 96 Mystics are low right now. They are at that point in life, 10ish years old. This is normal.

This 95R recently closed on eBay at a low price for a couple of reasons, 13K miles is great for any regular 1995 automobile, however, it is high for a 1995 Cobra R. Also, this 95R with its Victor Jr. heads and other mods probably runs great!, however, with its original parts missing, its price again suffered. But I must admit, even with its high miles (for a 95R), it did well to hit $20K. Lower mile, complete original 95R's regularly bring $5-8K more than this car.

The other Cobras will follow. It will take time.
