I get the premise of Bitcoin as a separate currency and means of transfer. But Someone has to help me understand why I would want to buy with real currency a make-believe currency in order to purchase a make-believe place in a make-believe universe. How is this so different than some people that think they are a cat?

People are already spending a lot their time in the "metaverse" but they dont know it yet (gaming/internet/facebook/etc).

Think about the game Adopt Me in ROBLOX. You create avatars/personalities/houses/cars/etc...you interact with people, trade items/pets/etc...throw parties, hangout, etc. People literally sell items from these games on Etsy and Ebay for big money. These things already hold value in the eyes of the people who play the games.

The "metaverse" is just a further extension of these things. If you happened to have picked the place that most people congregate at in the future, you "could" hold a small fortune.

Me personally, I threw small money at some plays as longshots.

If you see the latest catch phrase "Metaverse" - run away.
The metaverse is gonna be so Fn dope... frankly it's simple... people don't want to be in the real world, I see it 1st hand every weekend.

The real unlock come in the augmented reality... where everyone is wearing apple shades, and you're gonna be able to flex NFTs in real life.

Picture an iPad large or small, much like your smartphone now, in the palm of your hand.
A digital true 4 dimension.

Why wear a $20k bust down Rolex that I can get shot or robbed for... when I can flex the real thing in A/R

it's simple... people are sick of analog reality.

All that said to also point out
Everything of value will be
1. Digitized
2. Tokenized
3. Fractionalized

Real estate will be forever changed. A group of 50k people will be able to create a DAO and buy a skyscraper.. things we've never really been able to do, or only wealthy could have done.
Barriers to entry are being lowered.
It unlocks unimaginable value.

And it's about the only thing that give me hope for our future.

I could see where this fake world could be attractive to 30 year old males living in their mom's basement. Women are not gonna be interested.

Risk on ... est. 1792

230 years of up and to the right.

Lol... women probably helped cause this future as much as anything else.
Guys will have digital wives/girlfriends for sure.
That's probably a multi-Trillion dollar use case alone.

I don't think using a phone will translate to meta usage, but I could be wrong, a LOT of money is going to be spent pushing it.

Interesting post. When you think about it many people are spending quite a few hours in front of screens, whether it's a TV, smartphone or computer. If they can figure out a way to make virtual reality more immersive where all the senses (tasting, smelling, touching etc.) are involved and the resolution is lifelike then I could see people preferring to spend most of their lives in a virtual environment.

Elon Musk reckons a device that taps directly into the brain would be best as opposed to the primitive method used today where you look at a digital screen. That's how the Matrix depicted the simulation being delivered to people, via a receptacle in their brains lol!

In the Matrix they show people lying in pods. Question is how do they prevent heart failure etc. because a body needs to be exercised and moved around for an individual to stay healthy. If you sat in a chair for many hours without getting up and moving around you increase your chance of a heart attack for example - especially if you're an older individual.

I am just saying using a phone means engaging with people via a screen and not in real life. You're looking at a screen, not sitting in front of someone and talking to them in the real world. If virtual reality developed to a point where it is lifelike and the user is unable to distinguish between it and reality then hell yes women would be onboard with that. They could be living out all their favorite romances in a virtual world with "Prince Charming" or whatever they desired.

But we are a long way off from achieving that level of reality. In high school / college in the 80s and 90s my friends and I were impressed with video games like King's Quest and Leisure Suit Larry and all the what we thought was cool graphics showing up in games at the time. Each new game had better graphics. Now 30-40 years later graphics is a lot better but it is still not a lifelike experience. I am not sure I see this happening in the next 50 years, could be wrong though, you never know I guess.

They have found that being close to lifelike creeps people out.
