Is it possible to have a bad dpfe but no check engine light? I can’t get the egr monitor to run no matter how much i drive it. I replaced the dpfe back in the fall but with a Napa replacement to see if that was the case. No change. I just ordered a motor craft part. That’s my next step. I have a Delphi egr valve but haven’t installed it yet. My goal is to pass New York emissions test and the egr and cat monitor won’t run. Car has cats. No check engine light. No codes. Very frustrating.

I doubt that you can have a failed DPFE and no CEL.

Do a Google search and use a voltmeter to test the part.

Are you sure the EGR and Cats aren’t turned off in the tune?

There is a very specific drive cycle to follow to get the computer to cycle. I will look in my watched threads to try and find it.

***Edit. Post 10 has the info. Fuel level matters too.

Yea I followed the drive cycle to a “T”. Back in the fall I spent many hours driving and lots of fuel before putting it away for winter. Took it back out yesterday and the journey begins again. My inspection is now way overdue. Car runs great so I can’t figure out what the issue is.

One thing those systems share in common is needing a certain engine coolant temp.

Verify the coolant temp sensor is within range.

Pretty sure several other monitors require operating temp though so may not be it.

I believe I checked that back in the fall. I will check again though. I’m at the point of throwing darts

Looks like the cat monitor won’t run unless EGR has run.

Do you have a handheld that you can monitor ECT with?

Saw a few threads about calibration errors with non factory DPFE sensors so maybe the motorcraft one will be the fix.

My car had a CEL for EGR when I bought it. Tested the DPFE and it was out of range. Can’t recall if I got a motorcraft part or not but cured my issue ten yrs ago.

The new dpfe didn’t change anything. Egr monitor still won’t run. Maybe a coolant temp sensor next? I’m throwing darts. I also noticed fuel smell like it’s running very rich. Still no check engine light

Can’t recall if you have a handheld tuner or not. I think they’ll show ect

Or you can ohm it out with a voltmeter.

I have an sct x3 somewhere. I’ll have to hook it up and take a look. The sensor is only about 25 dollars. Might be worth replacing regardless. Probably original.
