If cultural appropriation and gentrification were a dog breed...
I'll stick with a proven breed like Boxers not some experimental dog bred for likes and follows. Lol
I prefer to be on the cutting edge of killer dog technology. If there was an option to pay extra for a venomous version I would be all over it. Nothing but the best for my family's safety.
This is why I have Dogo Argentono's. The only dogs with a stronger bite are the bigger mastiffs. 80lbs for my female, 100 lbs for my male, bone crushing bite, with the agility, stamina and flexibility of a smaller dog. Very, very intelligent as well.

How is their temperament and guarding instinct?
I want something that kills but won't eat the neighborhood kids when not in kill mode.
If they're properly trained, there will be no issues. They are very prey driven, so they have to be trained by you or a professional. I got my male when I lived in a trailer, in DE, because shit was moving in from the cities and theft spiked. After I got my dog, started training him, no one came near my property. They are very loving dogs to the family and extremely protective. They have a very high pain tolerance, which was bred into the breed in the 1920s when the Dr, in Argentina, started to develop the breed for hunting and family protection.

A Boxer does that instinctively. Spyder would always make sure he was outside to greet the kids getting off the school bus. All the kids in the neighborhood would come pet him and knew his name. He'd put his ears back and wiggle his butt. If he thought anyone was suspicious he'd let them know they better cross the street. He was attacked by a pit-bull once at a dog park. The vet hosed all the blood off of him and couldn't find a scratch.
I'm sure there are dogs who can bench-press more weight than a Boxer, but I love these dogs so much I can't imagine getting another breed. They are so good at reading people and knowing exactly how to adjust their energy. Plus, they're funny on purpose.
I love boxers as well. Mine passed about 8 months ago and I miss her every day.

Boxers are great family pets. With that said….
Boxer would gets absolutely OBLITERATED by a Dogo Argentino, in the family protection category.
You might as well compare a bb gun to a Night Hawk.
When it comes to family protection AND a great family pet, I would consider Dogo A.s, the tip of the spear. Perfection.

Beautiful boy. I have a soft spot for boxers. Had one when I was a kid and she was my best friend when life was a bit chaotic. My asshole parents gave her away when we moved.
I'd say it's like defending your house with a .45 compared to a thermonuclear warhead. I don't doubt there are bigger and stronger dogs out there, but I was responding to the comment about a guard dog that can be good with kids.
If someone breaks into your home with a freak dog while you're passed out on propofol, it might be a problem for the Boxer, but I can't say a Boxer isn't capable of protecting the family as well as other guard dogs. If anyone is attempting to enter the house, a Pomeranian will alert you as much as a big dog, so we're talking about the dog needing to physically intervene before you can grab your gun and get there. My Boxer could drag me across the carpet playing tug-of-war. I know the amount of strength he had. They are descendants of German bull and bear-baiting dogs. I'd hardly compare them to a BB gun. The point being, they are capable home defense dogs who behave in defense of the family and home as instinctively as they are gentle with babies and elderly people.
My Boxer also never acted foolish with the neighbor's spastic Sheltie on the other side of the fence. He'd calmly walk to the fence, hike his leg and piss on its face.
No hate on the boxer. I like them. I had one for a bit when i was a kid. They are goofballs, they can be intimidating and surely a good enough deterrent.
My point is that if you actually want maximum home defense, for actual life protection, look no further than the Dogo.
The duality in their personality is what cements their position as top family protector in my book. From ABSOLUTE killer, to your toddler’s best furbaby.

I've seen them on the Oregon coast, cute shits, but total badasses.
We used to get them lounging on the docks outside our barracks in Keyport where we'd fish the Puget Sound. We'd slap them on the ass and they hiss and make farting sounds before jumping into the water.
