Surprisingly Florida was not the biggest gainer in net population growth

Yes Florida was a strong #2 with a net migration of 238K. I can see why Brad gets irritated.

However it was beat by another Southern state. Texas - nope.

North Carolina topped the list with a net inflows of 266K. I was surprised by this statistic. I assume if this looked at a 5 yr chart, Florida would still be #1.

My cousin had to move back to WI from FL last year. He's gotta be why WI falls into the + column. lol
More likely it's people leaving IL. FIB (if you're not familiar with the acronym, look it up) concentration along the state line from Beloit and east has always been high, but it seems to me they're now focused on infiltrating the peninsula (Door County) like it's a feeding frenzy. Really grinds my gears when I have to wait in lines in my own state behind a bunch of boobs with IL plates.

Yep. My wife needs to restrain me from lashing out. A few months ago we stopped for a couple of drinks on the way home. Two couples (one younger and one older) from Mass were bitching about everything wrong here. I looked right over at them and told them to go home. Their looks were priceless.

I know my drive is a bit annoying due to Longboat Key being vacation rentals mostly so the 1st and 15th for condo change out is tough. However like you said the idiots from up north come here and complain. I tell them all the time pack up, I’ll help you.

I’m not surprised. North Carolina still has affordable housing and no state income tax I believe. People love Florida for its climate but it’s getting stupid expensive. I grew up in Naples and it was great when I was younger but it’s way overpriced. I’m either moving to north Florida where it’s a little more affordable or out of state. Your money goes further elsewhere.

I believe it. I know 4-5 former Floridians who left here for N.C. in the past year.

Home prices, home insurance, have just about doubled if not tripled-especially insurance.


Traffic has also gotten worse too depending if you live in a major area/close by.

It’s not only traffic but the quality of drivers. Yeah there’s always been idiots on the roads but Covid seems to have made people insane. The amount of agg assault calls I go to because people road rage and point guns at each other is insane. Road rage has been a huge issue. I’ve never seen it so bad. I hate going anywhere now because everyone is willing to risk it all just to be one car ahead.

Oh yeah, the corporate builders have jumped on this bandwagon too. Buying massive amounts of land to cram their boxes 6' apart in these planned communities. The fun and enjoyment is gone going out anymore to meet friends at a watering hole with all the newbs. As mentioned, my wife worries when we meet our born/raised here friends on Wednesday when we all all get together at a local place. No hesitation flapping our lips. Never used to be like that.

Always eventful that’s for damn sure. I’ll say the only good thing about Sarasota these days is the cars. Just ran into a Lamborghini Huracan, McLaren 720S, and a Ford GT.

I can tell the influx of people has increased tremendously. Many Californians and the typical northerners. They have blown up the housing market around here. If we sold our house which we have been thinking about doing for many years. We are priced out of my town, you can’t touch anything around here that’s a decent upgrade from ours for less than 500k. We would have to move further out and even then the houses are still in the 4-500k.

My drive to and from work is longer now and more aggrevating because these idiots can’t drive.

You also can’t forget the fact that these people screw their state up and run away. They come here or to other southern states and bring their liberal politics with them.
