Surprisingly Florida was not the biggest gainer in net population growth

Single family house coming up in North Naples. And guess what? I will still do nothing to maintain my property except pay fees and the condo will become an investment property.
That's the nice part if you don't want to do that stuff. I personally still don't mind doing the yard stuff and the pool, especially after I retire this summer. Curious as to your association fees if you want to disclose? No big deal if you don't. I've talked some people we know who live in them, and that amount is crazy IMO.

I don’t like talking about personal finances in public but we feel we are paying the amount that is correct for what we receive in our area.
Since my wife is in financial services she goes over the financial statements and the association is in good shape.

The amounts each association charges is all relative. An association on gulf shore Blvd or park shores is probably paying 10 times what we pay but when you are worth 8 figures plus what’s a hundred grand here and there.

I just did a closing for a couple that lived in Mooresville for the past 25 years. They said it's unrecognizable from the place they moved to.
Can also confirm. I live about 20 minutes from Mooresville and it has changed so much.
The traffic has always sucked there (compared to other cities in the area), but now its miserable.

The next "old nice" town that is going is North Wilkesboro. I have to drive through it to get to our mountain house and dread it every single time. The mountain house is in West Jefferson which has turned into a yuppy fest similar to Asheville.
Kannapolis, NC is on the rise in the right way though. They have invested a TON of money in downtown yet kept the right sort of attitude.

The biggest irony is the “natives” crying about “Yankees” while they are completely ungrateful of said Yankees saving them from becoming CommieFornia…

Florida was on the brink of becoming solid blue permanently and then a mass influx started pouring in as people left those blue shitholes and lo and behold Florida is Blood ****ing red. No longer a real “battle ground” state.

You’re welcome.

Good point

I've been meaning to spend a little time in Wilkesboro. Winston Salem is nice down town as well. I plan on catching a race at Bowman Gray at some point this year.

If you look at the history of Florida, it has gone from a solid blue state(60s- early 90's) to mixed(2000's) to red 2016+.
The push to Red was started with the election of Jeb! in 1999. 5 years prior the State legislature went red with the last Dem Governor.
Outside of Bill Nelson, who was a "moderate" Democrat senator, the state had been slowly turning red state wide outside of the larger metro areas such as PBC-Broward-Miami Dade, Orange and Hillsborough.

Before the rapid influx from other states, Florida had a Republican governor, both senate seats and had a majority of House seats.

Of course with COVID we've had a good growth spurt with conservatives coming here for the "freedom" and tax breaks this state provides.

But based off the prior elections I disagree that Florida was ever at risk of going back to blue and off the deep end like California.

It's been 25 years since the last Dem Governor.

The Cuban Flip I think has shocked the Dems the most. They keep making promises to a deeply religious Latino section of the population while at the same time calling them Latinx… that shit enrages the Spanish speaking population…

I somewhat disagree but you make good points.

Just look at the 2018 governor election results and think what could have been had DeSantis lost. He in my humble opinion changed Florida to a red state the most.
If he lost and none of his policies came to be we might still be a swing state.

My brother has a Brazilian friend, and she told him if someone referred to her as Latinx, she would punch them in the nose... LOL

He was telling me that, and then I had to ask WTH Latinx was.

True. That election was a close one, one that could of changed how florida was viewed.

But in the 2018 election DeSantis wasn't well known. He upset the Republican favorite in Putnam for the Republican nomination.
I don't recall the exact platform Ron was running on but he had Trumps support early on which played a huge roll in him being the nominee.

Gillum had also a surprising win over the favorite Democrat nominee. He was seen as a potential face of the Democrat party and was charismatic/rising star, even though he already had skeletons from his closet leaking from his time as Mayor. IIRC some tried to get him to be the next Obama and the Governorship was the key path to prominence.

You are correct, the left was pushing him as a rising star in the party
Sorry but not sorry his life went to shit.

What neighborhood are you in in Naples?
Where did you grow up in Mass?

Are you retired down here and what do you do for fun?
You go to a local gym? The beach?
What restaurants do you like?
Brookside, Milton MA

No gym, use a boat, and car stuff.

You are, but I understand your point. Florida was laid back, go to work, pop in for a beer on the way home. Now, e because some douche who's retired can get there before us and talks about how good food was up north, Gets old, real old. The influx has gotten overwhelming.
I totally understand especially this week, as it was MA school vacation week. Almost more out of state plates than FL. We love it here, most certainly don't bitch about being here.
