Yes, I did. I paired one with a 6918-07 RXT clutch and the clutch failed shortly after break-in. Quite a nightmare story that's documented here. Several different highly regarded people in the industry told me that the McLeod slave cylinder is junk and they all recommend the factory part.
This forum has been a great resource for me over the years. Happy to contribute. I've been cruising around town nice and easy to get started on my Vengeance clutch break in and it already feels really good. It's stiffer than the McLeods but still very drivable.
Well in the beginning they were basically saying that this was due to Ford installing it incorrectly or air in my hydraulic system. They did offer to investigate but I was on the hook for the labor cost to remove it, the shipping costs and not to mention the turnaround time which was something...
Picked up the car today. Feels like it's been forever! Vengeance clutch feels really good. The guys at Pro Dyno confirmed that the McLeod was factory defective. According to them the middle plate was warped and still had machining marks on it where the pads weren't making contact at all...
Pro Dyno just took a look at the car and said the installed clutch (not even 1 year old) is in bad shape... needs a rebuild or a replacement. I babied the clutch for the first 600 miles with TCS off per McLeods instructions so it seems like I just was unlucky and got a defective clutch...
Thanks for the reply BJ. Maybe going back to the OEM slave will solve this issue. A friend of mine is heading to SC for Christmas and offered to tow my car down to the guys at Pro Dyno so that's the plan as of right now.
This is a good point, I have actually met the Pro Dyno guys a few years ago when I had the car dyno tested by them at a local car show. I have relied on my local dealership mostly just out of convenience and they have been good in the past.
This definitely sounds like a possibility. I contacted McLeod directly and they first suggested bleeding the clutch which we've already tried. They said to drive it for a while and see if it gets better, and if not it could be that the clearance between the clutch disks wasn't set properly...
Ok so I'm bringing this post back from the dead because my clutch saga STILL isn't over.
The issue I initially posted about here ended up being a combination of a bad master cylinder and clutch cable. With those parts replaced the clutch started performing normally for a short time. So to...
That's sort of what I was thinking. I have heard from others as well that that OEM Slave is a good option. If the slave does end up being the problem I guess I'll have them install the OEM one.
Let me preface this with the fact that I am not a mechanic...
So back around April I had a Mcleod Racing 6918-07 RXT installed. I also had the McLeod Racing 1200 Series Hydraulic Slave Cylinder installed as well as a Ford Performance replacement pilot bearing (Thanks to BJ McCarty for giving...
Thanks for all of the replies guys - I spoke with the tech directly that worked on my car and he said it is absolutely the clutch slipping. He confirmed that there were no engine misfires and also that the hydraulics of the clutch are good. His guess is that there is some internal failure in...
Yeah it may just be wishful thinking. The thing is last time when I had the bad ignition coil it didn't throw any codes either. I'll just be really surprised and disappointed if the clutch has gone bad so quickly.
Forgive me as I'm no mechanical expert...
So I had a McLeod RXT clutch and flywheel installed in my car in 2014 and it has been great for about 20k miles. Now I am noticing something that feels like clutch slippage that only occurs under heavy acceleration. I took it to a local Ford dealer...
Trust me I never suggested I would try to stripe the car myself haha - the only thing I was considering attempting myself was removing the current stripes. Also I bought the car in 2013 and most of the damage was already done by then. I do take a lot better care of it than the previous owner...
As someone who, long story short, literally had my 06 GT SET ON FIRE by Precision Auto Tune during a muffler install I am highly skeptical of anyone working on my car. I can totally understand this and I am very paranoid about something like this happening. Might be best to just go vinyl after...
Yep - I am just afraid I would somehow damage the car as I have no experience whatsoever in this arena. Seems like a hot potato issue for most body shops in my area as well... pretty much no one wants to tackle removing the existing stripes. The only place I have found that agreed to do it so...
Funny to see my old thread brought back to life haha. I am still happy with the Shelby hood vents I got but I really did want the ones Steve was offering. I went back and forth with him in PMs but he eventually stopped responding so I assume he must be really busy like you guys said. Still...
I have finally decided to do something about my worn out stripes on my car. I'm leaning towards getting them painted on but I am wondering what you all have to say. I would love to get some recommendations for trustworthy paint shops in the North Carolina region and if you've had this done I...
Yeah honestly I would prefer to have them painted but assumed the price would be outrageous for that. Probably worth it though.
As far as removing the vinyl, is it really that easy? Just heat them up and remove them? I was worried about them leaving nasty residue or something.
Before someone roasts me for not searching the forum for this the search function appears to be broken for me.
I just got my first quote to redo my vinyl stripes on my 07 GT500 and they want $2100 for the job including removal of the existing stripes. Is this a reasonable price? The quote is...
Does anyone make a true smoked headlight assembly for the 07-09 GT500's? Seems all I can find is stick on covers and I'm personally not a fan of that. I've found true smoked tail lights and turn signals but cannot seem to find the headlights besides knockoffs on eBay that I'm not sure I want...
