If this is what this is going to become, keep the thread. I thought I was on SVTPerformance, not Mustang6G. I figured my posts this whole time were fairly fair and balanced, especially given the fact that I'm not opposed to spending money to get this sorted since I was willing to pay for the...
Gentlemen, please. Let's agree to a few things. 1) the cars overheat, 2) the problem was not apparent prior to purchase, 3) the track package was not available in conjunction with the tech package, 4) owners will need to spend money to bring their cars to a level where it won't limp on track...
Indeed. I can't wait to go back this fall. Apparently Hooked on Driving will be having a three day event at Watkins Glen. I will have the transmission temperature under control by then, but I'm worried about brake pads. I planned on taking an extra set to change trackside, but apparently...
When I was there we had three other GT350s, one in group C, another in group B, and one in my group, group A. Sadly, I barely saw the guy in my group. I just know I passed him once. He had a cooling kit installed on his '16 Tech Package and said he didn't experience overheating anymore.
With...
Take a look at this page: http://www.theglen.com/Track-Info/Facility-Rentals.aspx
It lists all the organizations that have rented out the track and when. You probably want to take a look at the driving school schedule, specifically. I'd suggest checking out those schools' websites and booking...
Absolutely. The only reason not to get track insurance, in my opinion, is if you have a dedicated track car, you own the car outright, and have the means to replace it.
Didn't include the spoiler or diff cooler. Not equivalent, and still requires installation, which is not free.
Honestly, I don't want to have this argument. This is getting ridiculous. Everybody is blaming tbe consumer because we "should have known better". That's bullshit and I didn't start...
I don't know where you're getting that from. The kit is $695 and the kit is meant to work with the GT350R transmission, which is $4000. That's the official fix from Ford. That's without labor. That is in no way equivalent to the cost of the Tech Package, especially since installing this kit...
What I'm looking at is the Ford Performance kit with the radiator, plumbing, etc (~$695) plus a Weldon K9200 racing pump. The kit is part number M-7095-M8S.
I think you're missing the fact that you literally could not option a car with the Technology Package and the Track Package in 2015 and 2016. Nobody wanted anything for free.
As for mountain driving, I think you're thinking exclusively of the area you're in. About two hours from me I could...
Ah, gotcha. I misunderstood. I went with Hooked On Driving (hookedondriving.com). I had only been to the track once before, also at Watkins Glen, two and a half years ago. This time I did a two day event and it made all the difference.
It's funny you should mention my line because there was...
I borrowed my friend's GoPro Hero3 and the suction cup mount. I was running in group A with a coach. And no, I didn't change my brake fluid but I should have. The pedal got a bit spongy towards the end of the second day. I believe that was the brake fluid breaking down, because I still had...
Why is being on track and keeping the revs above 6k any different from canyon carving and keeping the revs above 6k turn after turn? Your view is incredibly cynical. I've experienced this firsthand on the track in cold weather. It is, in my opinion, certainly possible that this could happen...
I believe it's entirely possible to overheat this car if you're canyon carving. I, however, don't live terribly close to good mountain roads where that would happen so it hasn't happened to me.
No worries. Happy to answer questions. Let me give you a bit of insight into my purchase process. When I was looking at the GT350s I actually wanted an R, but they weren't available and were going for exorbitant amounts of money. I decided I could benefit from a back seat anyway and went with...
Never, but I've also never sustained high RPM for that long.
The transmission is only required because it has the internal pump. If you install the radiator, hoses, and an external pump (which is what I had planned) we should be good. By the sound of it, this guy did just this and it proved...
That's great news! I'm glad to hear that will address the problem for good.
The car goes into limp mode, limiting you to 5000RPM. At 5000 you don't feel an abrupt stop like it cuts fuel flow, but you know it's not allowing you to accelerate, though. If temps continue to rise you'll see a...
I took my Technology Package GT350 to Watkins Glen. The transmission overheated, but I was able to maximize my track time by short shifting and staying above third. I had a blast. The brakes were amazing and never faded. I'm definitely going to need to install transmission cooling before my...
