I've got a long block from a 97 cobra. I purchased it in 2018 with the intentions of building a boost motor but have too many issues with the car itself to do any motor work.
I purchased it from Bill Fox's Mustang in PA. They claim it has 50k miles on it. I've never started it up or done...
Looking for a set, or the passenger side headlamp for a 96-98 cobra. This is the clear lens headlamp.
Rear should have printing like this, if it doesn't, I don't want it. There's a stark difference between OEM and China afternarket:
It doesn't make any noise, but I can't exactly shake it hard either. It's pretty sandwiched between the mufflers and the headers so there's not much give to shake with.
That's what I thought but I just changed the H-pipe August of last year. It's got less than 100 miles on it. I suppose it's possible since BBK has been known to have quality issues with their cats. I'll try shaking it and report back.
Ah yeah:
1997 4.6 bored .20 over back in 05. 20k miles on the rebuild, 103k on the block. Shop did the rebuild.
MAC CAI
MAC 5/8 longtubes
BBK catted H pipe
4.10 gears
Rebuilt T45 in 2009 probably 6k miles on it
Stage 2 clutch
Aluminum driveshaft
MSD coilpacks
Nothing outrageous just bolt ons...
Hey all,
I posted here a while ago asking about engine troubles and rod knock.. well that drama is still ongoing.
I brought the car to my normal shop and they of course couldn't replicate the sound there. Said they drove it for an hour and there was no sound. Cleaned the MAF and it pulls just...
Also here's the shop my friend referred me to - out of Rochester NY I guess
http://twautomotiveandmachine.com/
If anyone's got any experience with them.. They seem legit, hell of a lot closer.
Just called the shop, talked to the owner again who said:
"Its a 52k engine out of a car that took a passengers side front end hit, we make sure the engines run well before we sell them"
I asked about a compression check which they don't do. I asked what the warranty on the motor would be -...
All valid points on the used engine, I'll call and ask them today. Anyone have experience with Bill Fox's mustangs out of Dover PA? That's the place who's selling the engine.
I spoke with an engine shop here that would do it for around 4k. They have experience with that motor and feel...
Do you think the previous machining will be an issue? This seems to be a divided topic based on those who I've talked to. Unfortunately I don't have the money to "just open it and find out" like others have suggested.
Looking for fellow owner opinions on this one -
My car has lower rod knock and will need a full rebuild. Where I live (upstate NY) has no reputable shops that work on fords, especially not the 4.6 32v, any engine shop I've called doesn't want to touch it or doesn't return my calls.
When I...
I have issues with my DM speedcal very similar to yours. Mine has been installed for 12+ years however. Wiring or connection is probably shoddy on mine, the Speedo will kick on and off when I hit bumps haha, and it's about 10 mph off in 4th/5th gear.
I'm in the same boat as you, it's a bit...
More like what issues am I waiting to fix.
I've got a remote security box that I need to bring to a dealership for reprogramming but I don't feel like paying $100 to do it, so it's entering from the passenger door for me.
Unrelated to mustang I've got WRX STI struts that are sitting around...
Ha my drivers side interior panel where the pocket/handle is has been toasted for a few years now. I pop it back in without even realizing I am doing it now, stupid thing.
Hey all,
Threw this code after 3 weeks of driving normally. Had the same issue last year and honestly forgot about it. From what I've read here and elsewhere it can be multiple things but seems to tie back to O2 sensors.. which I've had my fair share of.
The closest I could get to my problem...
Just wondering what the general consensus is here on these. A buddy of mine has them on his s197 and they look pretty good, but I'm not so sure on our year, I prefer them on a black car to say the least - thoughts?

Man that car is nice. Love the wheels/tires combo and the stance. Coilovers?
Maybe consider a handheld tuner? I've never messed with one before, that's a little out of my knowledge field.
Doing a little more reading here and elsewhere - I think its probably the whole tensioner assembly. Looks like its a common problem for 97's - I'll swap that out and throw a new belt on it and see if she still makes noise.
New year - break out another hundred!
I replaced the belt last year in August, 2 months before I put it in my garage for the season, it's probably just the conditioner. Only applied that because I figured the squealing was from sitting all winter.
Do you think it's a bad pulley that needs to be replaced?
The tensioner.. probably...
