I know how you feel, I wanted one for 20 years and finally got mine exactly one year ago. It had 5500 miles on it when I got it, 8200 as of right now
and yeah, the stock brakes are sketchy - I'll be looking for a brake upgrade soon too
This makes me nervious - I just bought a catted Bassani X Pipe to use with my stock exhaust manifolds - will this still work?
Here are pics of my exhaust - What kind of exhaust do I have, and how can I make it quieter without losing performance (high flow cats?)
I decided I should keep the original tires mounted to the original wheels, in case I sold it maybe it would make it more valuable to whoever buys it? who knows, but it made it easy for me to justify buying new wheels with the new tires :D
awesome thank you!
and from another thread from last year where someone else had the same setup (2.8 plus a full Metco idler pulley kit) I see @CobraBob recommended a 76" belt so I'll get that as well (green gates 76" from LMR)
Thanks for the help!
I tried looking on the billetflow website, but it looked like it was still from 1997 and I couldn't find the "order" button. I tried calling several times over several days but got no answer. I tried ordering from Lethal Performance but after it said "shipped" it didn't show up a week later so...
if it helps, I paid 45 for a black 03 coupe with 5550 miles on it last month
If I had seen a mystichrome with that low miles I surely would have paid $5k more for it, but the only one I saw was listed at 72+ and that was well out of my price range
yes everyone has those in stock... to me that was a red flag that nobody wants them
thanks to the people who verified they are running them with no issues, I had read *tons* of bad Mickey Thompson stories across various forums over the years, I guess they sorted out the issues!
Just about the only thing I can find in stock anywhere are Mickey ET Street S/S , but I keep reading horror stories about how those are impossible to balance and always shake - have they fixed these tires since then?
The only other thing I can find are Nitto NT555RII... not sure what I...
what size R888R's would you recommend for rear 18x10 saleen wheels on an otherwise stock Cobra?
I don't mind replacing the IRS bolt since that seems easy, but don't really want to roll my fenders
I'm looking at R888R tires for my Saleen 18x10" rear wheels and trying to decide between 305/35 or 315/30, any advice?
Edit:
I watched @KyleSVT 's video and see that he was running 315/30 on the rears which look perfect to me, and the fronts look like 275/35. However I'm wondering about...
just puttering around town with them, trying to decide what wheel/tire combo to get, then I will store the factory wheels/tires
it's so hard to figure out what I want (by looking at pictures) vs what I can run without mods (spacers, rolling fenders, etc)
well, I wouldn't want to have to haul the stock exhaust down to a shop and pay them to put on an exhaust that's going to cork it back up - I heard the stock system is very restrictive
I still haven't figured out what I should do yet, but hopefully if I go magnaflow and keep the catless...
Update: I just called HPP here in the dallas area, and they recommended that I keep my catless H pipe and just replace everything else with a Magnaflow 15644 kit. They said that would be very quiet but not lose any performance
Anyone have any experience with that setup? is it decent quality?
I just realized I never answered you - the car only has ~5600 miles on it, so the exhaust that's on the car (photos included in first post) has even less than that. I'd say the overall condition is superb
it almost looks like it's been painted or coated in something as well, which I assume...
I'm currently googling around for Dallas performance or Exhaust shops, not sure who I should go with
I was looking at these cats but it looks like they're $650 each, which cats would you recommend that flow really well?
thanks for the info!
I guess that begs the question - should I get quieter mufflers or high flow cats?
what are some of the quietest mufflers?
edit: actually, are the stock mufflers restrictive? the seller included the entire stock exhaust system with the sale so I have that as well
