I like MKIV too. Bought 04 GTI 1.8T in Sept 04 because I thought it was last year for MKIV but then they stayed thru 05 and even into early 06. Just 1.8 turbo but scoots.
Mischievous "Fast" rides in back seat....a back seat driver:
Would like to drive an R32 sometime and see what it is like.
Some photos of my 1st generation 80 Mars Red. 44 years old now, I've had for 41. A little rust, some paint is oxidized. Chastain Shadow and the DaVest bra were big in 80s. Dealer had put them on for 1st owner. My 1st car. My 1st vehicle was an F100.This one has 203k now, original engine...
Nah, keep the Scirocco S. Friend in college had one-a Cirrus Gray 81. They are nice. We were gonna find a garage to rent near campus, then he decided he would just leave his out, but I found a good one car garage for a whopping 25 bucks a month.
There's a beastie.
I rented RAMs a few times to go on vacation to St George. Budget in Orem, Utah had them-1500's. Got RAM Sport's several times, then last time I got a Laramie. I like the round shift knob. (Maybe just on the 1500's?) And the RAM Bins in the door sills are a neat idea...
I was still in payments on the 88 16V when the 90 Audi Coupe Quattro came out. It had a slight Scirocco/Corrado similarity but larger and a bit longer. Inline 5 cylinder courtesy Dr Ferdinand Piech. The one that only was sold here for 90 and 91. I was crazy about those and G60 Corrado, but...
First scirocco I saw was 74 or 75. Arrived in our town, and I had never seen one. I was driving my F-100. Original Giugiaro design was pretty cool at the time. I like wedge shape generally.
Found some pix I took when I first got the Scirocco 16V. It was Nov 2, 1988. Not the best clarity because they are digital photos of old printed photographs. This is the first photo I took of the car after buying. I was completely over the moon.
88 was officially the only year for Alpine...
I was into anything with tires and an engine (hydrocarbon fueled engine anyway). Settled on Ford before I was old enough to drive. First vehicle was a 74 F-100 2WD Regular Cab, Ranger XLT, with manual transmission and I think it was the 351. Truck was Midnight Blue. Got the truck at 17, and...
Yeah I was into the G60 too, but still paying on the 88 16v Scirocco, so by the time I could buy one, the VR6 was out.
In G60s, I actually liked the bright yellow ones. There was a neat dark purple color.
Agree....I was surprised, but don't mind it. I check Hagerty and Classic.com for values. Hagerty will send me an email when they think one needs a bump. Awhile back it was the 94 F-350; they said value up 3000. Then 88 16v Scirocco up 4500, and 93 VR6 Corrado up 5k. I kind of look for a...
All the Ford pickup truck nicknames are a little ambiguous:
Bumpside (for the late sixties to 1972)
Dentside (for the 1973 to 1979-sixth generation)
Bullnose (7th generation from 1980 to 1986) these are cool, but why bullnose?
Bricknose (8th generation from...
I seem to gravitate to the OBS generation. I dunno, just like these a lot-in regular cabs.
Here's my probably impossible truck to find. I'd really like to find one of these little Rangers (83-84-85) that was somehow stashed for 40 yrs. Shortbed with manual transmission. 4wd or 2wd either...
Artsy fartsy shot I took of Cody with the historic Sunrise Mine shop building. Truck turns 30 tomorrow. Built 3.4.1994 at Norfolk VA Truck Plant. "Light Duty" F250. Got this truck on Ebay Oct 2009. Joined Ebay, got permission from dealer to bid. Had been with original owner in TN until he...
2 ft drifts in driveway this morning and these 2 (f350 and f150) are hanging out in the heated garage. Both 4WD and they've never been out in the snow. Spent half an hour digging out the company truck.
For an even heftier investment, I noticed an outfit in Florida does enclosed Towbox trucks with Jerr Dan. Low floor level box truck with cameras so you can watch the inside of the box from the cab. Mack, Peterbilt, or Freightliner cabs. I think that would be even better than pulling a trailer.
Don't profess to have favorites among the trucks, but this one is my spoiled brat. 2008 F150 Lariat SuperCrew 4X4. 3 valve Triton. Built 4/6/08 at Dearborn. Was originally destined to dealer in Buena Park CA, but dealer traded to Greiner Ford in Casper WY before leaving factory. 1st owner...
Here's my new school options. These 2 youngsters may be the newest I'll have. More interested in old school trucks, it seems. Both were one owner, bought thru dealers but I talked to or met both owners. (Boring warning-they're bone stock)
This one: 2014 F150 Supercab XLT. Built 6/6/14 at...
