different subject but appears from parts for sale u can answer a question i have.
I am looking at a 03 w/24000 mi. and a guy told me that the cams don't have a replacable bearing for them is this true?? He said that they use the aluminum casting with no bearing.
thanks for clearing this up for me

the cams ride whats called a journal...they don't have bearings...the tops of the journals actually unbolt so you can remove the cams...

ok ,, are the journals replacable is what I am trying to figure out like the main bearings on a crankshaft , i am under the impression that they are non-replaceable, so would mean new head if one went bad

just trying to figure this out,, if I buy this car it will have to last well past 100,000 miles of daily driving plus any trips, as this will be my driver.
