Well, I’m happy overall. Hard to be upset with an 1100rwhp SAE 7500rpm street car. Due to @Justin@VMP being in town and the Woodward Cruise weekend, I moved up my tuning day a week early with my friend Lidio at Alternative Auto Performance. On Friday we found that as soon as we started pushing the tune and commanding more fuel, we had pressure drop. It appears the Fore triple pump fuel system and ID1300s were maxed as the Walbro 465 pumps (high pressure 450lph) were done after 2.5 years sitting in E85. Unfortunately it seems these pumps and many others are very hard to find now. Did some driving around Detroit to track down new pumps but could only find one 400lph and two regular pressure 450lph. On Saturday after swapping in the new pumps and watching friend Eric Turbushs Gen 3R S550 hit 1100rwhp, we put my car on the rollers. Long story short, but last year with an unported Gen3 VMP blower and VMP 173 TB, it made 1022rwhp SAE with 23-24# and 22-23deg timing. This year, on the same 15% lower 2.4 upper pulley set up, with the only changes being a max ported Gen3R secret sauce blower, VMP 163R TB and exhaust cut outs, it made 1110rwhp SAE! It was much hotter and muggy this session, but it was interesting to see the same max boost overall despite the 3R swap. This could be weather related or due to the QTP exhaust cutouts helping. Unfortunately we still kept having fuel system issues and I have FIC1650 injectors currently in transit. You can see on the graph the TB attempting to close due 100-120% duty cycle! Once the new injectors are here, I expect the fueling issues on C85 will be addressed. If not I’ll swap in bigger secondary pumps (Hellcat 525lph). Interestingly, this year had a much more conservative timing curve. The max 21deg only came in at 6500rpm+. It was only 15deg at 4000rpm slowly ramped to 21deg. At this boost level, I’d like to see the 22-23deg max and have 19deg around 4000rpm ramping to 22deg at 6000rpm and even see if it likes 23deg like it did last year. Really looking forward to repeat testing with the new 1650s in cooler weather and the added timing, plus early fall track rentals! -J
