Some of you may remember a thread I had going a few years back regarding an 03 Z4 thats been in the family since new. The paint needed a lot of help since it was left outside under a tree for about 3 years before my father purchased it off my aunt.
I got the car better but I never felt it was all it could be. BMW's titanium silver paint has a super tough clear coat to correct, unlike the jet black cars which swirl up if you sneeze on them.
Last week the local detailer I use (Beadz Auto Detailing) went over the car and it finally looks like a 20,000 mile car should look. That hood mismatch I noted before is about 90% better, you really can't see it except in some extreme lighting. I'll never know what the heck the story is with that but whatever, call it a quirk.
The entire car has been 2 stepped and ceramic coated using Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra.
Just for comparison, this is how it looked back in 2019 with 19k miles on it. 2 years ago I replaced the factory 17" style 103 wheels with 18" style 108's wrapped in pilot 4S tires. These are what the car would have had if it was optioned with the sport package new, I think the two piece 5 spoke wheels really add a lot to the look.
Yes I know its "cheating" that I didn't get it to this point by myself but I threw in the towel after getting the paint to an "okay" state using everything I knew and had. Even with a wool cutting pad my 7424xp wasn't able to get near this level of shine. I'm happy now it's in a state where the paint can just be maintained at this level.
Work In Progress: 2003 BMW Z4 3.0i
Let me start off by saying: I am not a professional, I will freely admit to making mistakes or not doing things "by the book". This car belongs to my aunt, she bought it brand new in 2003 and it currently has 19,000 miles on it. The car has sat outside for the past couple of years and went to...
