Just wondering here since the new 5.0 has been out for a while. Is there a mileage point where the car breaks in and "awakens"? It has been mentioned numerous times regarding the LSX engines and drive trains. At around 6000 – 10,000 miles they break in and come on noticeably as some have claimed. Wonder if the same is for the 5.0 and others even?

Nothing significant. Not like after 5k youll think you just gained vtec......

Once the rings properly wear into the cylinder bores youll have peak output, of course this also depends on the break-in method (balls to wall or babied), i prefer the balls to the wall method. Also the tune on these cars (and many newer vehicles) are programmed not to run full timing/fuel until X amount of time is reached.
