Car won’t drive as well without the right pieces. They probably know that and don’t feel like dealing with a long term hassle project. Everybody is quick to bash a shop, and expect perfect results regards of what you give them to work with. My builder said when I go 6r80 to get the ford controller and he’d find a way to get it talking to a Holley stand alone we’re already planning to put in. His explanation was that non ford controllers (and even early ford controllers) didn’t drive right because the 6r80 can legitimately skip gears instead of pass through each gear. Long story short, the part load drivability is awful with the budget controllers. If you are manual valve body then I guess it doesn’t matter anyways. I’m summarizing a 15 minute conversation. Load creates heat and high heat will destroy automatics. If the soft wear or hardware isn’t letting the trans smoothly engage the proper gear for given load, it will bind up with pressure constantly in the guts. This would be happening in 75% or a given city drive. That pressure maintains and builds on to the heat.
