98 ShortBlock Vrs 01 shortblock...

well i used to have a 98 shortblock with my 00 gt's heads and i run 13.401 @ 99 ... but now i'm putting in a 01 shortblock with my 00 gt heads ... will i lose something on the 1/4 ET wise?
Some people say i will lose something and some people say i wont lose n-e-thing... What do u guys think? How much do u think i will lose??? Thanks people...

Depends on the pistions you use, if stick with the 96-98 pistions you should stay the same. If you use the 99+ pistions you will lose some compression and lose power.

96-98 pistions with 99+ heads-10.1-10.5:1 compression ratio.
99+ pistions with 99+ heads-9.4:1

The 2001's had 9.74 : 1 compression. ;-) So, if you use an 01 short block you should have 9.74 compression. Unfortunately, that will cost you a little hp. You could swap the stock pistons out for some forged flat tops and gain a little compression and longevity or, as mentioned above, use the 96-98 pistons.

i kept the 01 shortblock the way it was and i just bought a novi 2k supercharger =) so yeah ... hehe
