'99 Lightning heads - recall?

Quick question: Did the '99 Lightnings have a recall on the heads? I asked the seller of a '99 L if he ever shot a plug, and he said he "had the head recall done to make them 8 threads instead of 6" (which I thought '99s had 4 threads).

I know there were problems with the heads up until early '03 but didn't think there were any recalls. Thanks guys

No recall that I'm aware of. He could have put 03 04 heads on it or put time inserts in them.

Id have him prove the heads are legit because if he's lying about it what else would he or could he be lying about.

As far as I know there was never a recall. Sometimes they would be replaced if they popped. Try pulling a plug or two and looking at the threads.

One way is you can get the VIN # and do an OASIS history report on the truck.
The dealer that performed any recalls on the truck would have a record of what was done to it.

Head gaskets were recalled or TSB. I had mine done when it was stock

99s dont always show up on OASIS anymore.

there is no recall and to date ford will not repair the 5.4 with a shot plug

thanks guys, he still says there was a recall and ford put on the '03-'04 heads. ill have to take a close look at the truck and the paperwork

No there is no recall for our or any truck, I have already to spoken to Eric (ride the) about this and he is a ford master tech., I trust his word

black
70k miles
4 owners
clean title/carfax in hand
said to have never been raced/pullied
all stock except for k&n filter and pioneer cd player
has 03/04 8-threaded heads (due to "recall")
has had IC recall done
stock wheels sprayed black
new pirellis all around
new brakes all around
bedliner - no bed cover
looks very clean

If it checks out and he has paperwork for the 03/04 heads (I will pull some plugs to see the threads) I'll probably buy it

For the record, my 99 L has 94k and the original heads with no plug pop.

I'm also in PA and I haven't driven my L in almost 3 months. It wouldn't hurt my fiancee's feelings to get it out of the driveway, lol.

im gonna call BS...there was a TSB and nothing more for the heads. Unless he bitched and moaned enough to get a dealer to swap the heads they are 4 threads or 4 threads that have been 'certed.
There is not and was not a recall for heads...period end of story.

i bought my '00 w/ 80k on it for $5,995 w/ clear title and everything...but got a screaming deal. i would say the truck you are looking at would be worth $9,000-$10,000
