To build on this. Mines tied heavily to my stomach. I was sick for a long time, and dealt with stomach related issues (lost 40lbs in 3 weeks, in the beginning) daily for the better part of a decade. Though I’ve be better, body-wise, for a few years the damage was done to my mind and it can trigger an episode when I get in situations that I got sick in before. My biggest issue is the unwanted memories from the sickness come flooding back and the thought of going through it again terrifies me. 4 times of almost dying from it, and the last time the doctors said it was so bad that if it happened again I probably wouldn’t make it. Which result in weekly check ups for almost 2 years. So it screwed me up pretty bad, and towards the end I was beginning to give up, tired of fighting. I can’t travel at all, I have overwhelming anxiety when it comes to vacations so I rarely take one. Last one was 4 days in January of 2018, had to eat Valiums like candy to somewhat tolerate the traveling. I haven’t eaten out with friends in years. I could go on and on. Now what I’ve learned is this you have to not think about it, and it’s a challenge. Get something to keep you occupied; the less you think about the better. With the little that interests me I keep my mind fixed on them. The fear will always be a challenge to overcome as it’s very real to you and if your mind is like mine you’ll dwell on it making it worse. Surround yourself with things that comfort you. Mine are my dogs, and they can tell when it happens. Address now before it takes over your life, don’t become a hermit like I did. I can tell you it’s one of the hardest things I’m still trying to overcome. Pick your poison.
