Light to light straight line acceleration is not the only one aspect of a performance vehicle. I think your perception is way out of kilter. Also, I think your definition of a long time might be different then mine. It's has just barely been 2 years since since the Hellcat Challenger came out... and that was just equal to the 13/14 GT500 and only if you put aftermarket tires on it. It took the $100,000 Demon that was just released (and only 3,300 of them total) to dethrone the GT500 with regard to straight-line pulls from a dig. And that was maybe 6 months ago. The truth is in the stock for stock world, unless by some wild and improbable chance that you may happen to stumble across a street driven Demon among the 160 million cars on the road, the 13/14 GT500 is still King. The Hellcats have to get modded to run from a dig because they can't hook up. Ford holds the performance crown in every compact and mid-size middle class vehicle category in American. Stock for stock in the American market, you have to spend $100K to out-perform a Mustang. Regardless of what the reviews say, the Mustang is spanking the snot out of Chevy and Dodge when it comes to total races won.
