Attaching LMAF without mounting ears?

I have a stock intake, guy has a 90mm LMAF for $60, sensor + housing, but he cut the mounting ears off the housing. I am pretty certain the sensor needs to match the housing it's (I think) calibrated for, correct? If so: I have the stock cobra intake, unsure how I'd go about mounting it up. I'll eventually be snagging a JLT intake.
