I have been documenting every mile and gallon of gas that I have pumped in to my car. To date, I have filled up the tank 23 times. 20 time before the exhaust and 3 times after the exhaust. Before the exhaust my average MPG over the 20 fill-ups was 14.3067826. The three fill up average MPGs are 16.57142857, 14.79121475, and 16.11584563. That's an average of 15.48582446, a 1.18 MPG gain!!!

Prior to installing the X and catback I never hit 16.0 or higher MPG. The previous best average MPG was 15.68336163.

I'm glad to see my Bassani is paying for itself.

FYI. I drive the same 55-60 mile route to work every day. I rarely take extended drives down the expressway. I hit the usual Boston stop and go traffic from time to time. So there is NO change in normal driving or driving habits.

That's alway a good thing. If you took the cats off it would probably be even better.

And the tree huggers think they know everything.

Mike,

I've found the same thing. After putting on the Bassani, I also have an increase in gas mileage.
The best I could get was about 19. Now it's almost 21. I now have 5100 miles on the car. Probably 90% of my driving is highway. Who would of thought that this would become such an economy car with only an exhaust mod. j/k .

Just for fun.

Here's a rough estimation based on some very loose figures to give you an idea:

142,857

Gas = $1.60 / gal
Avg MPG before = 14
Avg MPG after = 15

Cost per mile before = $ 0.114
Cost per mile after = $ 0.107

Difference per mile $ 0.007

142,857.14 * 0.007 = $1000.00 (approximate cost of system w/o install)

Can't wait to get mine. :)

Your numbers are correct for estimates, but not to show gains. You are averaging the pre-exhaust estimates with the post-exhaust estimates, and while that will show your average since ownership, will not accurately reflect the MPG increase since this mod.

Actually, your post should have read - Bassani cat'd x and catback = 2.27 MPG gain, as that is the actual increase over your stock form.

Doesn't that make your return on investment quicker... ;-)

Congrats, and thanks for the info.
