The information in this forum regarding the issues/oddity’s of the R’s seems to be very scattered and I’d like to consolidate it for the owners/future owners knowledge. Guys with 93/95 R’s can fill in those cars as I don’t know a lot about them but I’ll start with the 00R Issues 2000R -Bubbles in the hood from incorrect factory prep and painting (common) -Fuel cell can and likely will leak over time as they have a life span, same as 95R (common) -Front splitter is a poor/weak design and will crack and make the car unstable at high speed (common if used) -Fuel sender unit calibration can be off and read 3/4 to 7/8 when the tank is full (somewhat common) -Recaro seat levers to allow rear access don’t always work, it’s a recaro seat on an oem ford track and the throws are different. If for had used a recaro track they would have had to crash test a 00R so they did their best to make them work (somewhat common) -Rear diff doesn’t promote cooling well and it will overhead at sustained triple digit speeds, diff cooler is required for racing (common) -The car had 2 issued recalls. One was for rear knuckle issues and the other was for the parking brake not having enough clamping force for steep inclines Quirks 2000R -Fuel cell can’t be topped off like a normal gas tank, when it’s full it’s full -Noticeable “clank” when putting the car in 1st gear, per a ford engineer, it’s the way the lash in the diff was set for the 00R -Due to the lack of sound deadening you hear ever pebble that gets kicked up into the wheel well like it’s in a metal can -Oem tires had a 100 wear rating and wore down very fast -Spare tire (98 cobra oem wheel) can only be used on the front axle due to 00R specific diff Please fill in whatever I missed
