Ok southeast Cobra owners, Mustang owners, and FBody owners. It's time for the SCMC's second bi-annual Cobra vs FBody shootout. As we did back in May, the SCMC Cobra club http://www.svtcobraclub.com and the Georgia FBody Association http://www.gafba.com/index.asp will be going at it for a full day on a privately rented track in Jackson SC just outside of Augusta Ga. In addition, as in past years, we will be partnering with MGW and George Ciamillo http://www.mgwltd.com/ to put this event on. We had an outstanding time back in May and the pictures and videos are up on the SCMC website here: http://www.svtcobraclub.com/scmcevents/mgw2001/index.html

This event will take place on Saturday November 10th, 2001 at Jackson Dragway http://www.carolinadragway.com/ The rainout date is November 17th. We are going to have the track privately rented for the entire day. We will be starting in the morning with just open side by side runs. This means you just line up at the tree, launch yourself and have fun. This will allow first timers and beginners to get a feel for 1/4 mile racing, work on their launch techniques etc... In the afternoon we will begin the official bracket racing competition. For those of you not familiar with bracket racing, this is a great way to compete evenly with cars that are either faster or slower than you are. You dial in your expected ET, then you must beat your opponent but not beat your estimated time. You also get to launch earlier if your dialed in time is slower than your opponents. If you dialed in 15 seconds and your opponent dialed in 13 seconds, you get to take off 2 seconds before your opponent. In this style of racing, consistency is the key and a V6 could conceivably kick butt on a supercharged Cobra. This means everyone can compete, and everyone has a chance to take home a trophy. I am far from a professional racer, and certainly far from the fastest car, yet I took first place back in May.

Even if you're not interested in racing, be sure to check out the SCMC Cobra Club website http://www.svtcobraclub.com and consider becoming a member. This is just one of many events we do throughout the year, including open track, dyno days and Mustang shows. Just the vendor discounts alone are worth the annual membership dues of 15.00. I once saved over 100.00 on a single order from Kenny Brown http://www.kennybrown.com/

Hope to see you all there!
