Buddy worked at a dealership for years. In my mind, its not just the customers, so many of the people who work at the dealerships are morons too. One case sticks with me. Customer brought in his wifes Challenger, manual, saying she always complains about the trans. 'Its hard to shift and sometimes wont shift' was her complaint. They had 3 or 4 different techs go over the car, drive it, nobody could find an issue. As he's telling me about this crazy lady and her made up problem, I immediately knew what it was, and was embarrassed to tell him. I asked if he drove it like she did. He says hell no, I drove it like I drive and it was fine. I told him to go back to work tomorrow and drive it like a Camry. Guess what? Skip shift kicked in. He drove manuals his whole life but drove in a manner that would never engage skip shift. She doesn't. I went in, disabled skip shift, she picked up the car and hugged everybody at the dealership and thanked them for finally fixing her car. LOL. Dealership full of well(?) trained techs who would have never figured out what was happening because they are taught to believe everything can be solved by the book.
