Owned 2 Harleys and a Yamaha Liter bike when I lived in CA. 1st Harley was a Fat Boy. Rode with a half helmet that, in retrospect, offered no real protection to my head. traded in for a Dyna FatBob and finally decided to give a Full helmet a try. After 1 week, Id never ride another motorcycle without a full helmet. I found myself splitting lanes regularly but not as crazy as some riders did. Though when the freeway was open, I had a hard time not riding near 100 with the Dyna... very underrated motorcycle. Picked up a Yamaha FZ-1 to commute after I bought my GT500. 70 mile round trip commute, it saved my pocket book. Again, wouldn't even consider riding without a full helmet. Actually got run into while legally lane splitting by a car. Guy was in a rush and not even looking for motorcycles. Sold it after I moved back to AZ. Not sitting in 100+ weather unable to lane split. That, and AZ drivers quickly proved how absolutely ****ing terrible they are at driving. Ill stay in my cage nice and cozy with my AC thank you very much.
