i had a 1998 svt with some mods and a 1997 gt walked all over me
and the 1997s are slow as balls
i have a 2001 bullitt that would blow the doors off a csvt
i loved my csvt but yes it was slow
a good running civic would outrun it

I know a few SVTC's that would give your mustang a run..

And no, a Civic will not outrun it. SVTC's are not very quick stock, but really a civic?

my buddy wants to race me in his ls 1 camaro i have a 98 svt contour with mild upgrades. he says he will give me a 2 car headstart. do i have a chance to beat him in the quarter mile?

These cars aren't made to be balls out quick in a straight line... rather to handle well and be fun to drive, which they are SVT is all about the total package... there was an Edmunds Insideline comparison a while back w/ the SVT Contour and when it came down to it the Contour they decided was more fun to drive, and handled better. These are road course/track cars not straight line cars, its all about the handling.
