Has anyone emptied out the cats on the stock 03 midpipes?
These pipes are 2 1/4" and are said to give good low end
torque on stock engines. Will the car pass the emissions
sniffer test with the cats empty?
I had a 1986 Monte Carlo SS, I emptied out the cat and it
went .10 faster at the dragway and passed the emissions.
Can you even get something into the pipes,to reach the cats?

No your car will NOT pass the sniffer with hollowed cats. I am not sure what you could use to knock them clean, maybe it you had a 36' pry bar or something so you could guarantee being able to completely clean them out. You will definitely will pick up ET and HP with gutting the cats though. Good luck.

I had a 90 Gt with no cats and it would pass the sniffer, but this was before it had to go on a Cali dyno. Hmmm, I just ordered an O/R X pipe. I have a sniffer, I will have to see how it looks after I install the X.

Who knows maybe it would still pass then. But from everyone I have talked to without cats or gutted cats they said they would not pass a sniffer. But then again CA smog laws are the worst.

I am in Mass. so my emissions are almost as bad as CA.
My car has CA. emission standards.
