I'm a '98 Neon R/T owner (With his sites set on the new SVT Focus! Yeah!)I have been in the community for a few years now and am a frequent visitor to Neons.org. Regularly I have seen stock R/T's with posted timeslips generally in the 15.8-15.9 with a trap speed of 88-89. The Neon is VERY open to modifications and 14's are quite possible with bolt-ons. (Although not smooth the engineers did a nice job on this engine, and is does well with modifications.)ACR's can be slightly quicker. This is for 1st gen. though. It appears that the 2nd gen. Neons are slower.)
SI's are quick to be sure, but it takes a good driver to run one. Times can be similiar, but many a Neon has beaten them.
I'm glad to see the SVT come out for the Focus. I was hesitant in purchasing a ZX3 because the timeslips weren't in the realm I wanted to see it at, even with performance additions like AEM's dealer-installed pkg. The lack of rear discs bothered me a bit too. I have to say, the Focus has a much better aftermarket than when the Neon was as old, and this is encouraging.

rts are pretty quick and the stuff u just listed about it bein in the 132 hp range.... well thats the sohc engine, the dohc engine puts out about 150 ponies
We poor, poor j-body owners (Cavalier, Sunfire)...won't we ever be recognized. We get sizeable write-ups in Sport Compact Car 2 months straight and we're still not included in these conversations. :-D
Seriously, here's the latest numbers on the 2002 Cavalier Z24, just in case anyone is interested. Its in the same category as the others and is also running high 15s stock. A few guys are WAY lower than that w/ bolt-ons. Also, there are a few running around w/ Grand Am H.O. or Grand Prix Supercharged engine swaps...Yep a s/c Grand Prix engine will actually fit. I only wish I had the cash to do that swap myself! Ah well...
