Probably one of my favorite things is having a super clean car but with kids and other hobbies I've really put the car on the back burner. I'm usually bow hunting hard this time of year but I killed my buck a few days ago, so that opened up my schedule to clean the car a little. Was just going to wash it but I ended up going a touch further. I got under the car and cleaned the undercarriage some and tackled the hood blanket. The hood blanket gets absolutely disgusting, even with only 9k miles on the car this one looked pretty bad. So while I was cleaning the car I pulled it off and repainted it. I know a lot of people just toss them but I'm a purist and like my cars to be mostly stock. I repainted it with interior fabric paint by Color Coat. Turned out decent but after getting it back on the car I realized it really needed one more coat. I ordered a bunch of factory replacement push pins from tousley ford a long time ago to do this job but just never got around to it until yesterday. I also ordered a push pin remover tool so I would not destroy the brittle factory blanket. As far as cleaning the only thing I didn't tackle was vacuuming but it was pretty clean inside anyway. Just a quick wipe down and I was good. Also I conditioned the leather in late spring so I'll probably hold off a while before I do that again. . Edit - Just to list a few of the costs just in case anyone wants to tackle the hood blanket. Push Pins - Dirt Cheap, I think Ive got around 10 bucks in a box of 50, but I did call Ford to make sure I got an exact factory match replacements pins. Push Pin Remover Tool - $20.00 on ebay Color Coat Satin Black Interior Soft Plastics and Fabric Paint - $12.00 Got a surgery that is going to put me down for a couple weeks, then a family vacation, then right back into bow hunting, followed by a couple golf tournaments.
