OP, you didn't specify what kind of GT350 you're looking at. If it's a base or Tech Pack, go with the GT500. If it's a Track Pack, get the GT350. I believe people are mentally comparing a stock GT350 to a modded GT500. The GT350 is not a slow car. Stock-for-stock, it would be a driver's race all day long between a GT350 and an '11/'12 GT500. And a GT350R wouldn't exactly be left for dead from a dig against a '13/'14 GT500. GT350R 0-60 3.8, 1/4 11.9 - 12.1 @ 119. '13/'14 GT500 0-60 3.8, 1/4 11.8 - 11.9 @ 123. It's obviously a different story from a roll. Don't worry about the oil consumption. Any car that gets beat on regularly is going to burn through oil. An engine that revs out to 8250 on a regular basis is obviously going to consume oil at a faster rate, but it's not like it's draining the pan dry. That said, I have 2800+ miles on my R, and it hasn't burned any oil yet. So don't be put off by the hearsay. Go drive one, and make your own decision. I don't find my R to be "lacking" at all in around-town driving, and I have a heavy foot. It can definitely slam my head back when I'm playing with the revs.
