well I decided to do Postban's hood mod, VERY easy..

when I removed the liner this is what I found :cryying:

what the hell?? my hood is only half painted??:mj: and (from another thread) it's:gt: metal to boot!!! :cuss:

Maybe the shop will spritz the hood for me when I bring it in.

Anyone have some of that extra moulding so I can complete the hood mod?

That's not a metal hood. If it was, the thing wouldn't be able to support it's own weight because it is too thin and doesn't have enough support in the middle. That's exactly what mine looks like and it is most definantly composite.

I think you guys thinking you've got metal hoods don't know the difference between a thin but high strength composite and metal. Mind you, it's NOT plastic, so it won't sound like plastic.

Sucks about only being half painted though.

Ya... I would agree it's not a FULL metal hood... I know the top is composite. I was thinkin that they would incorporate metal bracing in the glass like one would find in a kit car.

still pisses me off that the hoos is not completely painted

It is a weight reduction mod, from Ford

Probably saved $.06 worth of paint too. :loser:

The molding would be nice, but it's not needed to complete the process. I used silicone adhesive to seal the cut edge. Just squeeze a small bead around the edge, work it into the fibers and use your fingers to create a feathered "molding" of your own.
