I see your points and there is validity to them. The 3.5EB is a capable engine making sufficient power for the appliation. The issue with Ford is that they have a CLEAR mandate from their customer base that they WANT a V8 option. I'd bet $20 that a guy with a Coyote that decides to either S/C or TT his COYOTE Raptor would have a far more enjoyable truck. Because #V8, and THAT is what demand is for. Ignoring that is where Ram will seize the opportunity. You can already get a Ram Rebel with a V8. Soon you'll be able to get a Hellcat powered TRX Rebel with a more capable suspension that is a more direct competitor to Raptor. The Raptor IS a great truck as is, but it lacks the soul of a V8 powered truck. In fact I was following a Raptor EB this morning. He hit the gas to pass a car in front of me and... well...i was let down by what i heard. It's just the reality of things. If Ford really wanted to play the CAFE game with F150, they could offer the base engine in a Regular Cab, short bed 4x2 as a 2.3L EB tuned for fuel economy. They'd only have to make a handful for them to count.
