Went to my first Texas Mile. Had a blast. I could only run on Friday. You have to qualify on first run between 140-160 MPH to be able to run unlimited speed. Fist Run was 144.8. Speedo actually was 153-155 when I shifted into 6th and the speed dropped at the end of the 1 Mile marker. Conditions were perfect. 3 hours later we ran into a 20-25 mph head wind. Ran 152.7 (130 @ 1/2 mile). Felt like the car had more, but you could really tell the headwind was really hindering. How much it affects the speed I don't know. My Son-in-Law has 09 CTS V (mods) He best run was 190 and 184.7 into the wind. Had a blast, saw a few Bosses; lots of great cars. I was shocked at how well the car handled on the first run. Absolutely straight; felt like the car just "sat down?" Suspension stuff like the K member, springs, Torque Arm, I'm sure helped. The second run into the wind; I could really tell how the wind was affecting the car; A real adrenaline rush; If you have an opportunity, you ought to go. ps. Any suggestions for attaining higher MPH are welcome [IMG][/IMG]
