Quick background, bought the truck last month with 71k on the clock. Was told they put a new engine in the truck. When I went on the road test with the salesman he told me to floor it, we then heard what sounded like something blown out and what a skid plate would sound like dragging. Nothing was dragging, just saying sound wise. Then the idle became rough. I was told it bent an exhaust valve. They put a new head on it and everything was good to go. I drove the truck for a 1,000 miles without beating on it, I love the truck.....but Now I hit my thousand mile mark, I'm driving to the local store to get a can of Cope. I floor it to see what it feels like, boom does the same exact thing it did the last time I floored it and bent a valve. I mean it could be God's way to say stop dipping, but I'm not buying that. I pull into the store parking lot, at this point I needed about two cans and I popped in two fatties. Not to get off track, I pop the hood while it's still running and I can hear it knocking its bag off. Also a noise like something was rattling around in the lower intake. I drive home and park it up, idle was jacked up, tapping noises the whole ride. Next day I start it up and it idles smooth, no noises. I drive around the block, boom starts again. Another lip in, scratch my head, call the dealer and get it towed. They call me the next day and say that can't duplicate the sound, I said I'll come down drive it. They want to put a new lower intake on it. I said go for it, I'll be back when it blows again. I know when they install a longblock they use all the bolt on pieces from your engine. I'm thinking this might be fuel related, they haven't told me anything new yet. If the same cylinder that lost compression last time did it again this time, then a new lower intake will not solve this. Has anyone come across something like this before? Sorry this was rambling on, was venting somewhat. I'm thinking about taking it to the guy who tunes my other car and having him datalogging everything to rule out fuel or spark.
