I kept my RPMs below 4000 until 500 miles. At 500 I changed the oil, installed my shifter and K&N, and dropped the hammer :beer:

may people use a 1000mile period as a good rule of thumb, but i believe now adays engines dont need to be broken in. i still wait till my first oilchange, if the oils good in it still then i let her lose.

I kept the R's below 4000 for the first 10(ten) miles then changed the oil at 30(thirty) miles. Check out this link. I've talked to a number of good engine builder/engineers and they all agree. This is the way to go!
