I have a 97 taurus with the key pad on the door but have no idea what the code is. Is there a way to disconnect the battery so I can use my own code? Thanks in advance.

There is a module under the dash, right above where your foot on the gas pedal. It has a large gray plug with lots of wires. The code is on a tag on the passenger side of the module. It should be the largest numbers on the module and most can read it upside down and backwards with a mirror.
