[QUOTE="carrrnuttt, post: 11390094, member: 10844"] Oh ****ing bull. I've been in many altercations as a corrections officer, and I can tell you that a strike to the head/face is the LAST option you use. Your first, and only instinct should be to subdue, which means you attempt to incapacitate extremities or bodily take them down. Striking the head is a lose/lose: a) If you happen to strike hard enough, or are using a weapon, it can cause concussions and/or death -- you BETTER have a damned good explanation for why you did it, since you were obviously still standing and therefore physically capable enough to go through a number of takedown scenarios prior to aiming for the head. b) If you DON'T strike hard enough, all you're doing is pissing off the inmate...and leaving your upper body open getting stabbed, a common tactic in prison. They taught us many striking points and soft nerve spots--and none of them involves the face, except for cartilage on your nose, which is considered a lethal blow. Go back to point a) above to see what that involves. I swear to ****ing god, the lengths you go to to fight for a scenario that's not worth defending. You're either a bad cop, or one that knows you'll find yourself in these situations...if you haven't already. Maybe attempting to justify the shit you've done yourself (at least in your mind), maybe?
