Magnaflow releases its cat-back exhaust system for Ford’s hottest hatch

If you watched Ford Performance’s Rebirth of an Icon documentary series, you know that engineers put a lot of effort into giving the new Focus RS and aggressive exhaust note. Much like its pony-car cousin the Shelby GT350, the hot hatch features an adjustable system controlled by electric valves to control the sound and flow. Given that you are reading this, it’s likely you will want a bit more aggression and flow, so Magnaflow is here to help.

“MagnaFlow’s competition cat-back for the 2016 Focus RS (PN 19281; $1,410.59) features 3-inch stainless steel tubing leading up to 4.5 inch polished tips that line up perfectly with the factory diffuser,” says the company. “The system also retains the factory valves, so the functionality to open and close them remains intact. The MagnaFlow system offers a deeper growl than the stock system without being overly loud or droning on the highway making ideal for use on a daily driven car.”

You can hear the system in action right here…

The 409 stainless system is an easy bolt-on thanks to the provided V-band clamps and the muffler not only includes its own adjustable valve, but it’s a straight-through design for improved flow.

If this sounds like the system for you, the Competition cat-back is available for preorder now from Magnaflow dealers. It retails for around $1,200 and should begin shipping in early August.

Magnaflow’s Competition cat-back for the 2016 Focus RS (PN 19281) is constructed of 3-inch stainless steel tubing that feeds 4 ½-inch polished tips. The system is 50-state legal and we’ve heard it’s good for double-digit power gains.

Seems pricey for a 409 system.

The Cobra system is like $300 less and 304, and the miltec is only $90 more and 304L.
