lmao that everything is better outside of CA. we've gone to many states and the first thing we notice is the lack of diversity in food. half the country thinks Chipotle is Mexican food and Panda Express is Chinese food. here in LA you can find tons of authentic restaurants from just about every country on the planet. not just mexican, salvadoran, cuban, peruvian, argentinan, nicarauguan, guatamalan, brazilian, ecuadoran, etc... drive around where YOU live and see if you can find each of those. ill wait.... then there's also russian, armenian, serbian, lebanese, ethiopian, thai, cambodian, vietnamese, philipino, korean, japanese, different types of chinese, german, swedish, scandanavian, hungarian, etc.. and many, many of each. but you went to a restaurant while visiting CA and didnt like it and now the food sucks lol. San Francisco is known for having some of the best chefs/food in the country, especially seafood. texmex is not mexican food, although im sure texas has plenty of the real deal with all the mexicans that live there. here in so cal you will find real mexican food from various areas in mexico (which are different). san diego has some amazing mexican spot. lots of handmade tortillas down there. dont really see that much in LA but they do exist. we go to a taco truck that sells $1 street tacos and there's a lady in there making stacks of handmade corn tortillas, for $1! asada, al pastor, birria, buche, cabeza, barbacoa, pollo, etc... we recently stopped at one tiny little spot in san ysidro that has great and unique food. and another one in chula vista. to get real mexican food you have to go to hole in the wall spots, where nobody even speaks english and the menu is in spanish. not King Taco or Titos lol. of course, many of the reviews about mexican food/tacos here is about as legit as us rating authentic chinese food lol. if you dont live in a border state than you dont know real mexican food lol. every border state has a large (real) mexican population which means theyre going to have real mexican food. not including texmex or new mexico style food. of course, if the taco is not burning a hole in your mouth than real mexicans will not approve of said tacos anyways lol. i didnt realize i kicked a hornets nest with a simple meme lmao
