If you wanna be an electrician or work in a feild that REQUIRES any kind of certification and or classes, then yeah you do. And trust me, you want a licsensed guy who went to school over the hack you found at home depot. Think I'm wrong, have fun watching your $120k and that nice house burn to the ground cuz of Hack Villa.... Oh and BTW this January when I graduate, my first year I'll be clearing 50k per year.... granted class is gunna run me $25k, well $17k after uncle sam helped me out. And that's as an apprentice! Once I'm liscensed 4 to 5 years down the road (that's how long it takes to get the hours to take your test, 8,000 hours in Ma, limited to 2k per year), I'll be well into the 80k+ and once I've got my masters, which by the way REQUIRES more school, the sky is the limit. Yeah it's not instant money, but once I'm done and set, I'll be earning more than both my mom and stepdad, and my dad and stepmom combined. Yeah it's costing me now, classes can be tedious, but tell me it isn't worth it... Not to mention 65% of the electrical work force are baby boomers who are retiring within 5-8 years... wanna make money kids? Electrical!
